UPDATE: Traffic Signal at Intersection of Paddock and Miller

A vehicle crash in recent weeks impacted the operation of the traffic signal at the intersection of Miller Ave. and Paddock Ave., which now features temporary stop signs and a traffic signal that continuously flashes red. City officials say this practice will remain in place through the end of April.

"Recently, the traffic signal at the intersection of Paddock and Miller Avenues was significantly damaged by a power surge, which resulted in an electrical fire inside the signal cabinet," said John Lawlor, Director of Public Works & Engineering for the City of Meriden. "The signal was repaired to function in the flashing mode, as an interim solution. The traffic division of Public Works is currently assessing (using Connecticut Department of Transportation procedures) the need for the signal to justify repairing/replacing the signal or removing the signal. The assessment period is ninety (90) days and will continue until April 30, in accordance with CT-DOT protocols."
