Meriden Linear Trails

 Meriden Linear Trail Advisory Committee Mission Statement
The mission of the Meriden Linear Trail Advisory Committee is to advise the City of Meriden in identifying opportunities for the development and management of multi-purpose, non-motorized trails in the City of Meriden. The Committee will work with city and state government agencies, outdoor enthusiasts and other interested parties to create a network of quality, multi-purpose trails for recreation, education and enjoyment of present and future generations in the City of Meriden.

The Federal Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA21) offered communities the opportunity to apply for a broad range of “transportation enhancements” to include the creation of multi-use linear trails. Partnering with the Town of Wallingford, our neighbor to the south, using federal funding along with local match, the process of scoping, design and construction of the first trails began. With the need for local oversight came creation of Advisory Committees for each community. To date, Wallingford has created three pedestrian facilities with plans for a fourth reaching to the Meriden town line.

Below is the Meriden Linear Trail Advisory Committee's long-term vision of trails for recreation, education and enjoyment of present and future generations in the City of Meriden.  With the opening of the Quinnipiac River Gorge Trail in 2007, and the opening of the Hanover Pond Trail (Phase II) in 2013, the new City of Meriden assets will add to the over 3,000 acres of  park land  under the direction of the Meriden Parks Division.
