The Purchasing Department handles the procurement of all items required by City departments. These items range from office supplies to telephone services to construction services. The purchasing department processes requisitions, negotiates contracts, administers the request for proposal process and sends out formal bids. It is the goal of the department to obtain goods and services at the least total cost, while maintaining a level playing field for all vendors who wish to do business with the City.

Bidding Process - The purchase of all commodities is made through the competitive bidding process. All professional services are obtained through the request for proposal process.  Any purchases over $25,000 require a formal bid. Any bidders who wish to be placed on the City of Meriden bid list need only to send us a letter specifying which commodity they wish to bid on.
