As part of the replacement of the Murdock Ave. bridge over I-91, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced that alternating one-way traffic, controlled by a temporary traffic signal on the bridge, will begin Thursday, August 27, with a rain date of Sunday, August 30)
In preparation for this project, which is expected to take approximately two years to complete, the traffic signalization will be installed during the week of August 17 with alternating traffic directed by police and/or flagmen.
The alternating one-way traffic pattern will allow one lane on the bridge to remain open during the replacement of the bridge.
The bridge work will include both day and night work, demolition of bridge decks and abutments, saw cutting, reconstruction, and back-up alarms, which can create noise.
The DOT will monitor the noise levels, as required, to ensure compliance, which is outlined in CTDOT’s Standard Specifications.
