The City of Meriden Economic Development Team Announces ‘Eat Local-Win Local’ Campaign
Meriden Community Called to Support Local Businesses

MERIDEN-- The Meriden Economic Development team are launching a campaign called “Eat Local – Win Local” and is asking the local community to show their Meriden Pride by patronizing local restaurants and eateries (by ordering takeout/curbside pick-up) and then promoting their favorite eateries on social media. The purpose of ‘Eat Local - Win Local’ is to get residents and businesses out to help restaurants in Meriden stay in business during this time of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

"The local businesses in Meriden contribute to the economic success and provide a distinctive character to our city," said Joseph Feest Director of Economic Development. "The businesses in Meriden are invested in the wellbeing of our community and its residents, as evidenced by the sacrifices they're making to keep our community fed and their doors open. Now we must do our civic duty and support them."

‘Eat Local - Win Local’ will highlight restaurants and eateries throughout Meriden by promoting their takeout/curbside options and will begin on April 27 and will go to May 20th. For a list of local restaurants and eateries, please visit click here. Here is how you can help support Meriden’s local businesses in the ‘Eat Local- Win Local’ Campaign and be eligible for a drawing for one of two $100.00 restaurant gift cards:

  • Follow the Meriden Economic Development Instagram (@Meriden_Economic_Development)
  • Community members that spend at least $15.00 per transaction (for a total of $30.00) at TWO DIFFERENT Meriden restaurants can then submit pictures or scans of their receipts to TOrtiz@meridenct.gov.
  • Community members enjoying takeout from Meriden businesses are encouraged to share their support and pictures through social media with the Instagram hashtag - #MeridenEats.

The City of Meriden’s Economic Development Office will draw two entries for gift cards on May 22 and will post the winners on their Instagram account.

Please support our local restaurants and show your ‘Meriden Pride’ through the ‘Eat Local - Win Local’ campaign.

Post COVID-19 and when businesses resume normalcy; the Economic Development team will draw two more entries for two $100.00 restaurant gift cards. Same rules apply above.

The Meriden Economic Development team thanks those members of our community that are hard at work every day to keep essential stores and services in operation. Please respect individual business precautions and local policy guidelines on social distancing to reduce the spread and to keep our community safe.
