The Meriden Fire Department is proud to announce the Promotion of Division Chief of Training Michael B. Shaw to Deputy Fire Chief.

 

Chief Shaw joined the Meriden Fire Department on November 28, 1993. He was promoted to Lieutenant on November 27, 2011, and to Captain on July 20, 2014. He held the position as the Captain of Engine Company One, just one year when he was again promoted to Division Chief of Training, where he has served until today. In 2016, Mike was appointed as a Co-Director of the City’s Office of Emergency Management, eventually becoming the only Director.

 

Michael holds multiple certifications including Firefighter III, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer IV, as well as numerous certifications in Hazardous Materials, Confined Space Rescue Operations, Rope Rescue Operations and Incident Command.

 

Michael brings 27 years of diverse experience to the executive staff. We look forward to this new chapter and to the future of the Meriden Fire Department.
