First Congregational Church Concert Series Comes to Meriden Beginning February 7

MERIDEN- For the first time, the First Congregational Church of Meriden located at 62 Colony Street will be hosting the “Old Church Concert Series” on Friday, February 7, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. with a home cooked dinner offered from 5-6:30 p.m. The concert series will be held every first Friday of each month until the beginning of the summer outdoor season. Mike Wilcox originally founded the “Old Church Concert Series” in Rocky Hill in March of 2016 with the goal to provide a unique venue for Connecticut-based acoustic singer/songwriters.

“The First Congregational Church in Meriden is an ideal facility to host the Old Church Concert Series because of its architecture and acoustics,” said Reverend Bruce Miller. “The Concert Series allows talented singers and songwriters from Connecticut to truly showcase their original music in a venue perfect for active listening and enjoyment.”

The music series will showcase the best of Connecticut’s talent in an intimate acoustic environment. The concert series’ Meriden premier will be a special event featuring over 25 local singer/songwriters from across Connecticut and will be emceed by Meriden resident, Frank Critelli, a noted singer and songwriter in his own right who will also be performing.

“It is very exciting to have Meriden be the host city for the Old Church Concert Series after a multi-year run in Rocky Hill,” said organizer Denise Jones, who has performed at and supported the Rocky Hill Series with her band “Inner Groove”. “We believe Meriden’s central location and easy access to the train station will attract more participation from around Connecticut”.

Supporters include Telefunken Audio, Cygnus Radio, iCRV, WESU, Prentis Printing, the Making Meriden Business Center and many others who are excited to bring more music to downtown Meriden. Gallery 53 Art Gallery will be open pre and post the event as well.
