MERIDEN—Due to COVID-19 related challenges, the Free Bulky Waste Day will be postponed until a later date. In lieu of this, the Meriden Transfer Station will extend its hours for the month of September to accommodate the needs of its residents.
Effective September 5th, extended hours for the month include:
- Saturdays, (9/5, 9/19): 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Mondays (9/14, 9/21, 9/28): 10 a.m. – 6: 30 p.m.
- Wednesdays: (9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30): 7 a.m. - noon, 2 p.m. – 6: 30 p.m.
The Transfer Station is closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day.

*Masks are REQUIRED when speaking with staff or near other users*

To protect the safety of the public and our workers, DPW personnel is not able to assist with unloading. Therefore, residents are asked to bring sufficient help/assistance to unload their items to help keep low wait times.
In addition, the Office of Constituent Services has a limited number of vouchers available for residents with hardships that relied on the Free Bulky Waste Day. Please contact 203-639-6595 for more information and an application.
As a reminder, the following items are always free to dispose:
- Clean mattresses
- Light bulbs
- Brush and leaves
- Cardboard for Recycling
