Welcome to the City of Meriden Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Established in 1851, the Meriden Fire Department has a rich and deep history of providing quality service to the community. The Meriden Fire Department has 103 dedicated members, 100 of whom are sworn fire personnel. They are divided into four divisions; Administration, Operations, Fire Marshal’s Office, and Training. The operations division is overseen by the Deputy Chief, and is divided into four “groups”. There are 23 personnel assigned to each group with a minimum of 21 personnel on duty each day. Each group is supervised by an Assistant Chief/Shift Commander.

We are a full service department that is committed to providing the best possible service to our citizens and visitors. Our focus is to ensure that the Meriden Fire Department continues to add value to Meriden’s standard of living.
